Tom Sheehan's 'Film at Eleven' is Not Kid's Stuff READING,
Pa.
(BUSINESS WIRE)
Oct. 3, 2000
Songwriter Tom Sheehan's new 19 North Records release, "Film at Eleven," is not
your typical pop music fare. While certainly not the first to fuse social commentary with
rock music, Sheehan does so from a uniquely adult perspective -- an insightful point of
view tempered by years of experience. "Black Ice," the first single from
"Film at Eleven," speaks in the first person about addiction, but in terms of
its impact on a relationship: "Baby, for the life of me, I don't know why you
stay," is the opening line. "Coup d'etat" presents an Oliver Stone
"ish" take on the Kennedy Assassination. And the album's most chilling moment is
"On the Inside," a spooky, frightening song about the Columbine tragedy in
Colorado. The final line of the song, which comes at the conclusion of an eery David
Cullen guitar solo, will leave you positively shaken. Even his songs about relationships
carry a different, adult point of view. "Here We Go Again" is a beautifully
simple ballad about rediscovered love. "Don't Lie to Me," a scorching, sultry
slow blues, covers the betrayed trust of adultery. And the album's closer, "True to
You," is an almost spiritual, devotional piece Sheehan wrote for his wife when she
decided that she wanted to have another child at 40. The music industry trade press has
heaped critical praise on Sheehan. John Schoenberger, writing in the influential radio
magazine, "totallyadult," says, "Tom Sheehan is an artist that you need to
know about." Album Network says "Just like the nightly news, Tom Sheehan
delivers the absurdities and lies and staightup truths on...'Film at Eleven.'" At
Adult Rock Radio, "Film at Eleven" is gaining fast acceptance along side new
Fall "must add" releases by such industry heavyweights as The Wallflowers, U2,
kd lang, Mark Knopfler, Paul Simon and Lenny Kravitz. Bottom line: if you like music that
makes you think, music that is provocative, with lyrics that are intelligent, then Tom
Sheehan and "Film at Eleven" are for you. "Film at Eleven" is
distributed in the United States by Redeye Distributing and is available in record stores
throughout the country as well as via the major on-line record stores like CDNow!,
Amazon.com, Borders.com and many others. More information about Tom Sheehan and "Film
at Eleven" is available at www.19north.com.
